Business Catalog contains process related artifacts such as : services, data types,
artifacts such as services, data types, such as services, data types, events, rules, human task implementations, and exceptions that can be shared and reused across the various business processes in a BPM Project.
The Human Tasks folder : contains human task implementation artifacts.
The Rules folder :contains the business rules artifacts,
the Services folder : contains the system services (these can be BPEL processes, adapter services, or other services),
the References folder : contains external services,
and the Types folder contains data types related to the implementation artifacts.
It promotes both top-down and bottom-up process development :
1. In the top-down approach : The web-based, role-based BPM Process Composer can be used to create BPMN process models annotated for completion by process developers (sans implementation details) and then publish it to Metadata Services Repository (MDS) for further refinements inside BPM Studio by a process developer role.
2. In the bottom-up approach : The process developer/process analyst can create a BPM Project or a BPM Project Template, populate the Business Catalog with re-usable artifacts, and publish it to MDS.
The business user can modify/compose new processes from these published BPM Projects/BPM Project Templates to tailor-fit their business use case.
The BPM Suite 11g platform supports a combination of top-down and bottom-up
approaches to complete the development of process models.
